Today is coincidentally the common birthday of my mother (she celebrates according to the lunar calendar, which is the 29th day of the 6th month) and my wife who celebrates according to the gregorian (english) calendar. Such coincidence is truly rare. Mother was pleased that I called her to wish her and she said that I had celebrated for her, to which I said yes, but today is her real birthday! Early this month with Tony and family home for a visit from the States, they celebrated for mother together Ning Yung, wife Ah Heong and our sister King New. Mother was 84 years old and my wife 62. As we grow older we learn to appreciate each day that we awake to. To the 2 ladies of my life, Happy Birthday !!!

Humpty Dumpty
Our creative Tony Ping has written the following script that reflects the current financial crisis in the United States that is infecting the rest of the world. He says rather than idling himself, he thought he should put his creative talents to work. Here goes:
Scene: Hanging around Wall Street, Downtown New York.
Citizen A: Yes, who is that Humpty Dumpty?
Citizen B (a learned professor): Look closer, he is the Western Unfettered Capitalism where greed has gone mad.
Citizen A: See how stuffed up he is. Not too long ago he wasn’t this fat.
Citizen C: Oop’s! Look at him again. He seems to be suffering from indigestion. Somebody better hold him steady. He is about to fall.
Citizen A: No, not me, he is too greedy, he fall, it is his own business. He deserve it.
Government: But you have to. He will splatter all over the place and hurt us too.
Citizen B: There he goes, he is falling! We all gonna be hurt!
Chinaman A: What Wall was he sitting on?
Chinaman B: Can’t you read? It says “WALL ST”
Chinaman A: He should be sitting on the Great Wall and he won’t fall. At least our Wall is thicker and he may just roll on it but not fall.
Citizen B: Very clever, but this is America. We practise laisse faize capitalism where we are allowed to lobby our way to great wealth. When we fall, the management still have golden parachutes and live in big houses. Screw the dumb shareholders! Don’t they learn by now? Management greed first, shareholders return to equity second. If we fall, tough!

Thank God we are beginning to see some action, especially from uncle Tony, the flamboyant one. You can’t miss him out of the crowd, baldness notwithstanding. You can’t beat James, he has a lovely shaped pate to show. While Tony struggles to find a nice pix of himself that make him recognizable anywhere in the world, here’s few I found from my digital records. No, no, they weren’t doctored but originally resized down. Hope Tony don’t mind the choices. Enjoy!

Tony Ping & Family Homecoming
Tony and family arrived KLIA on July 10 night and put up at Ai King’s sister, Ai Ngek’s house in Shah Alam. The following day I picked them up from Sunway Pyramid and brought them to Seremban where they spent a night, the following day, July 12 I drove them back to Sitiawan to visit mother where they will stay until Aug 11.
